The Rewind: Lula Washington Dance Theater

Lula Washington Dance Theater

As part of our NEA grant to showcase strings in the performing arts, LWDT incorporated strings in a few different ways for their Friday performance. For starters, Lula requested that each audience member take a string with their program. As we told people, "here, have a string," we were just as puzzled as they were. Little did we know there was a nice surprise in store for us. What followed was the high energy, audience participation section of the show.

Audience members took their strings and followed the lead of Lula and company (including our very own Leigh Ann Hahn, Director of Programming).

Also included was an impressive double-dutch number to some Fela Kuti.

Oh! For good measure here's a picture of the flowers we prepped to give to the performers post-show.

Bravo! to all who made the show happen. Dancers, musicians, choreographers, poets, directors and crew. A well deserved happy 30th to Lula Washington Dance Theater.

See the night's program here.

This looks like it was a fun and entertaining show. Especially with the participation of the audience.
