Front of House Manger (part time seasonal)

 

Grand Performances, L.A.’s premiere free summer concert presenter, seeks an experienced Front of House Manager to oversee all public services in our one-of-a-kind outdoor venue, manage our volunteer force, and work with Grand Performances administrative and production staff to ensure a positive patron experience. The 2015 Grand Performance season runs from June 19-August 22, and includes 25+ events. Compensation based on experience.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT AREN’T LIMITED TO

  • Primary point of contact for Production and Administrative staff before, during, and after a performance
  • Manage set up of the event space prior to public opening: work with production team to set up reserved seating section, stock information cart, manage onsite relationships with vendors and partners, and more
  • Work with development department to manage the reserved seating section for GP members, artists, and press after the show begins
  • Coordinate artist merchandising sales and keep reliable accounting of sales when necessary
  • Recruit, Coordinate, Train, Manage & Deploy Volunteer Force
  • Manage FOH volunteer team by stationing them across plaza to act as ushers and on-site ambassadors providing information about Grand Performances events o Oversee Red Bucket solicitation, Artist Signing, survey distribution, and other promotional events when necessary
  • Resolve patron complaints/issues during productions
  • Compile nightly event reports, including house counts, incident reports, etc. and report to staff at weekly production meetings

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • 3-5 years Front of House or relevant experience
  • Strong organizational and communications skills
  • Able to think on your feet and manage multiple responsibilities at once
  • Will be required to work non-traditional hours including nights and weekends; must be able to attend all Tuesday afternoon production meetings
  • Must be outgoing and excited to engage with staff members, artists, and the public all with utmost professionalism
  • Excellent customer service
  • Must be physically strong and able to stand and walk for a significant amount of time; must be to lift up to 25lbs

We're looking for a Development Assistant

Grand Performances has an immediate full-time job opening for a Development Assistant. 

Grand Performances, L.A.’s premier free outdoor summer performing arts presenter, is known for providing Angelenos with an eclectic mix of high quality performing arts by world-renowned artists across genres. With programming reflective of the many cultural interests of people across the region, Grand Performances hosts America's most diverse audience at its beautiful outdoor venue located on Bunker Hill in downtown Los Angeles. Grand Performances is a 501(c)(3) and summer 2013 marks its 27th season of serving the community.
 
The Development Assistant reports to the Director of Development and is a vital part of this two person development team. The primary role of this position is to assist in the design and implementation of comprehensive fund-raising activities in support of Grand Performances. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator (verbal and written), detail-oriented and a highly motivated team player. We seek someone who has strong data management skills, a desire for a career in development, and passion for live performance.

Year-round responsibilities include maintaining donor and prospect database records, processing donations and timely written acknowledgements, administrative support for annual fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship and communications, grant writing and reporting, preparation and maintenance of Grand Performances Board meeting minutes and materials, assisting with coordination of special events and annual fundraiser, and additional development duties as assigned and self-identified projects as approved.

During the summer season of free performances, the Development Assistant will be present at events to manage donor reserved seating area, provide onsite customer service to donors/VIPs, coordinate donor receptions, and provide assistance to the general public.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree preferred.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are essential. 
Professional verbal and written communication skills required.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Ability to work both collaboratively and independently to organize, plan, and carry out activities to meet specific timelines and goals.
Computer literacy, Internet research skills, and experience with MS Office and Windows required.  In Design experience a plus.
Knowledge of Patron Manager/Sales Force database a plus.
Available on evenings and weekends for season and special events.

Position is full-time non-exempt and begins as soon as possible.
Salary range $13 - $16 per hour.

Summary of Communications Director Job Description

Grand Performances is seeking an experienced, creative Communications Director who wants to work in an environment that is energetic, collaborative and artistic and who is a strong writer and has a history of successful marketing, promotion and media relations in the Los Angeles area. The Communications Director manages all aspects of internal and external communications for Grand Performances including, but not limited to, marketing, media and public relations, graphic design and brand management, website design, online content and social media coordination.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with excellent presentation skills and ability to speak effectively to a variety of internal and external audiences. The Communications Director works closely with the Executive Director, Director of Development and support staff to implement strategic partnerships and communication strategies for the organization. He/she serves essential functions at all public performances during evening and weekend hours and interacts frequently with Grand Performances’ diverse constituents including audiences and performers. 

Qualifications

 

  • Five or more years communications and/or marketing experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • A confident self-starter with excellent organizational and teamwork
  • skills and ability to prioritize is essential.

Salary is based on experience (annual salary range: $50,000 to $55,000).
